FOR SCHOOLS / FOR SCIENCE FESTIVALS & PUBLIC EVENTS Bring the magic of the tropical rainforest into your school - marvel at giant insects and learn about their life cycle; admire beautiful necklaces and musical instruments handcrafted by an Amerindian tribe, while learning about the lives of the indigenous peoples of the rainforest; The Rainforest Roadshow is suitable for both primary and secondary schools, as well as for family audiences. Dave or Sue are available to visit schools for full days, with a flexible programme to suit your needs. We bring with us some live rainforest invertebrates (many of which are captive bred by us here in the UK), our own photographic display, and an incredible array of genuine tribal artefacts from our collection. Our aim is not just to educate, but to inspire and entertain, bringing the rainforest to life for our audiences, with real things and our genuine experiences. For primary schools, the day can comprise a series of repeated presentations to include the whole school or a mixture of presentation and workshop activities for a single year group or class.

Many primary teachers have found a visit from the Rainforest Roadshow to be a valuable stimulus in teaching the rainforest as a topic or as part of a science, art or environment activity week. For secondary schools, hour long presentations can be repeated through the day to fit in with your school timetable. Based in mid-Wales, we mainly work in Wales/Borders, the West Midlands and the North West, but we do visit other regions from time to time, so please feel free to contact us regarding the price and feasibility of visits to your area. Quotes from school visits "Many thanks for coming in and giving such an inspiring talk. The pupils were very enthusiastic and talkative about it afterwards, as were the staff - a superb morning" Secondary school geography teacher, Shropshire "The children really enjoyed it and learnt so much - your experiences, artefacts and animals really brought it alive for them and the teachers. It was a really valuable part of our Environment Week." Primary school teacher, London "Thank you very much for the magnificent day you gave for us... To stimulate young minds to understand sensitive environments and appreciate the cultures and creatures they support is an extremely important role. You achieve this very successfully." Primary school head teacher, West Midlands "The level of challenge in lessons is appropriately high. For example, pupils in Year 5 were able to speak and write at an above average level about their views about environmental change. The good use of resources had a major impact on the learning for the lesson. The use of an outside expert speaker inspired a high level of interest and enthusiasm in the pupils."
